Kay Suz is a science fiction writer living in Knoxville, Tennessee. She has a passion for images and words and enjoys putting the two together in any format. While her published works land solidly in the scifi category, she likes to experiment with different genres, including contemporary fiction and stageplays, as well as various forms of speculative fiction. She has led writing workshops focusing on short stories, novels, screenplays, and stageplays. She has also directed plays for Underground Stage Company.
Kay’s photography has evolved over the years to include macro elements, street photography, and stylized character shoots. She often uses these images as story prompts. Her first novel, Snowfall on Adam’s Church, was inspired by a macro photograph of a miniature disk read-and-write head. The original photo was used to create the cover of the published novel.
The synergy between visual and written media is the driving force in Kay’s writing. She loves to explore new spaces – both natural and manmade – and to discover fresh ways to express her experience of the physical and spiritual worlds. Because of this in-depth exploration, as well as her transformative encounters with a variety of people, her writing has escalated to a level that is both startling and direct, and has subsequently been compared to the works of George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, and Aldous Huxley. Readers have said that they found themselves in her pages and are convicted by what they see there – an unswerving honesty and a profound modern relevance.
